What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct form of medicine that addresses the root cause of illness. It involves the use of safe, natural therapies in order to promote healing.
Therapies used by Naturopathic Doctors include nutrition, herbs, homeopathy and acupuncture. We believe that every patient is unique, so the prescriptions are also unique to the individual needs of each patient.
Can I use Naturopathic Medicine if I am on medication?
Yes, we work with you to ensure your treatments are safe with your medications.
How are Naturopathic Doctors trained?
Naturopathic Doctors require 3 years of premedical studies at the University level, plus 4 years of full-time training at an accredited college of Naturopathic Medicine. In Ontario, a Naturopathic Doctor must pass intensive regulatory board examinations in order to be a licensed Naturopathic Doctor.
Does OHIP cover Naturopathic visits?
Unfortunately, OHIP does not cover Naturopathic expenses. Most extended health benefits will cover Naturopathic visits. To know if your insurance plan covers Naturopathy please contact your insurance company.
